Taste Great Southern Express to hit the road in 2019

New tour venture will bring together gourmet food, premium accommodation and first-rate transport to take Perth foodies on a trip to remember.

Three WA businesses have teamed up to create a new South West food experience: The Taste Great Southern Express. Albany’s Quality Apartments Banksia Gardens has partnered with Busy Blue Bus and event organisers to offer an all-inclusive accommodation, event, food, wine and transport package over the popular Taste Great Southern Food Festival in April 2019.

The Taste Great Southern Express is a fun filled 4 day package (5-8 April 2019) to remember. The package includes return transport from Perth to Albany, 3 nights accommodation with breakfast at Quality Apartments Banksia Gardens, and tickets and coach transfers to the following 3 festival events:

• “Wish You Were Beer”, (Friday 5 April), a not to be missed evening aboard the Brig Amity, filled with seafood, shanties and brews! Experience the tasty seafood treats from Liberte’s Amy Hamilton (GoodFood Australia hat winner 2019), bountiful brews from Matty Wilson of Wilson Brewing Company and sing along with local favourites, The Shantymen. Ticket includes a degustation of 6 tapas by Amy Hamilton from Liberte, brews from Wilsons Brewing Company, Great Southern wine and entertainment by The Shantymen.
• “Albany Wine & Food Festival” (Saturday 6 April), where you can enjoy the best of Great Southern’s wine, craft beer, cider, spirits, food, local produce and tourism in a festival to celebrate this great region! With plenty of award winning wines, fresh produce and great people, it will be an enjoyable day out! Enjoy a wine seminar, watch a cooking demo and be inspired by our guest chefs, buy local produce and delicious tapas from the great foodies of the region and for the kiddies, get their face painted, all while listening to some great live music!
• “Light It Up Feast” (Sunday 7 April), Experience the Field of Light: Avenue of Honour while savouring the region’s amazing local produce, talented local chefs and our Internationally loved guest chef, Adam Liaw (SBS’s Award Winning Destination Flavour host and winner of MasterChef). Each tapas will be inspired by Adam and matched with local beverages showing off the seasonal produce and wine of the region. Local marron, oysters and seafood, grass fed lamb, heirloom vegetables, berries and dairy will feature across the 6 courses as you can view and wander around the inspiring artwork. This is a culinary art experience to be remembered.
