With the expansion of Busy Blue Bus, James is now more often than not, driving a curser across a screen of figures than the steering wheel of a bus, but still enjoys engagement with customers big and small. He enjoys flying his RV6 to visit drivers on school bus runs and meetings around the state. He plays hockey, and loves catching up with his two adult sons.
Susan is the creative force behind the Busy Blue Bus brand. With an education background,
Susan has been instrumental in developing the new tour direction for the business and
recognises the role that Busy Blue Bus plays in developing Albany’s tourism industry. She
loves swimming at Albany’s beaches, walking the region’s bush tracks and trails, kayaking its
rivers and climbing its granite outcrops; when she is not in the garden.
A long-standing resident of Esperance and well-versed in fleet management Ken is the backbone of the Esperance depot activities. He has expertise and understanding of the region’s sights and landscape. Considered, quiet and conscientious, he has proven himself invaluable. Independently he manages School and Town Bus Services in Esperance, as well as charter operations.
Coming to us from a 30 year career in the railways, then local government and private industry, Steve brings a wealth of experience, across a range of disciplines, to his role with us as Operations Manager. Steve worked with Busy Blue Bus for some time as a driver and also helping with maintenance and therefore came into the Operations Manager role with a firm understanding of each of the components that make up our business. Steve is able to confidently walk our valued customers through each of the factors that makes up their booking with us.
Helen is our satellite employee working, variously from home and or the depots in Albany and Esperance, as our HSEQ Officer and School Bus Services Manager. She occasionally drives one of our School bus runs. Her other responsibilities at Busy Blue Bus are keeping the books in order and ensuring our employees are paid on time! In her other life, she is an Ambulance Officer and contributes to the Borden Bulletin. Truly a country girl, she loves her independence and thrives on the diverse life she leads.
Shane was born and raised in the Great Southern. From farm to manager at Maitraya and
now Service Manager at Busy Blue Bus. He never stops moving! Constantly on the run, he bounds around on long legs to keep the fleet of buses clean and maintained to the Busy Blue Bus impeccable standards. Safety is his priority and he strives to ensure that your bus is wellpresented and in top-notch order for your convenience. He plays hockey with James in the Spencer Park Vets and is proud Dad to a lovely quartet of daughters.
Di is at the front desk at the Esperance depot where her efficient office organisation and management is beneficial to Ken and all the drivers. A former bus driver and contract owner, with a long connection to the Esperance region, she brings a great deal of wisdom to her administrative role.
Our Tour Manager, Maryanne, oversees all aspects of our tours. She handles customer inquiries, makes bookings, organises buses, communicates with suppliers and enjoys getting out of the office as Tour Guide Driver for the tours she books! Maryanne was born and raised in the great southern region and is a member of one of the region’s pioneering families. She has travelled the world and has chosen to settle down on the Amazing South Coast, as she is passionate and excited about the region. Maryanne loves to work the family farm, care for her menagerie and explore her natural surrounds in her spare time.
Dave has lived in Esperance all his life. Since leaving school he has spent 11 years working as a Mechanic, during which time he worked for six years on buses at the current Esperance yard. Dave recently returned to the Esperance depot as our full-time Diesel Mechanic.
He likes 4WDing on Esperance beaches.
Janelle is in Administration at the depot in Esperance and has lived in Esperance for 20 years. She has two children and is married to a Sailor in active service. Janelle is a volunteer with SES and Volunteer Marine Rescue and Scouts. She has been studying law since she was eight years old and loves camping, 4WDriving, reading and coffee.
Kate is in Administration at the Albany depot and comes to us with a variety of experience in roadworks, transport, online marketing and administration. She loves being able to help serve customers, sell tours and charters and simply getting things done. Outside of work, Kate and her husband, have an interest in homesteading, permaculture and natural building and are currently owner-builders of Australia's first Earthbag dome home.
