Getting Here

Albany is the major city and gateway to our region, and can be accessed by direct flights and buses from Perth, the capital city of Western Australia. For the self drive traveller, the road to Albany is an easy 4.5hrs drive from Perth through forests, farmlands and historical townships.

Best Time To Visit

Our region offers diverse experiences for visitors all year.

SUMMER on the coast is regarded as the optimum time to visit to enjoy our spectacular beaches and warm sunny days. Average temperatures between December to February are 23C during the day interspersed with irregular very hot days.

AUTUMN experiences mild daytime temperatures, making this a perfect time to bushwalk and sightsee or join in our Anzac Day celebrations in Albany. Between March to April winemakers are harvesting and there is an abundance of fresh produce to be experienced at cafes and restaurants throughout the region.

WINTER is characterised by cold and often overcast days, however, it’s whale season! Winds are generally lighter in winter and the whales can be seen on tours or from lookouts all along the coast. Whales visit Albany and King George Sound between May to October annually.

SPRING heralds wild flower season and events all along the south coast as the days become longer and warmer, with average temperatures reaching 20C. Spring is a wonderful time to visit the coast’s attractions before the Summer crowds arrive.
